What is the difference between table top and deep pour epoxy?
Table top epoxy is made for thin protective coatings that self-level into a glossy surface — ideal for flood coats on tables and counters. Deep pour epoxy is engineered for thick castings (deep molds, encapsulation, river table pours) where controlled heat and slow curing matter. If your goal is a clear topcoat, choose table top resin. If you’re filling deep volume, choose deep pour.

Once fully cured, Craft Resin Deep Pour Epoxy is food safe for incidental contact. It can be used on projects like serving boards and decorative surfaces when applied and cured properly.
Why did my deep pour epoxy crack, yellow, or overheat?
Deep Pour Epoxy Resin can crack, yellow or overheat when it is poured too thickly, mixed incorrectly, or cured outside the recommended temperature range. To help prevent these issues, follow the recommended pour depth, measure and mix accurately, and keep your workspace within the correct curing conditions.

Do you need to seal wood before applying epoxy?
Yes, sealing wood is recommended, especially for porous or live-edge wood. A seal coat helps reduce air release and bubbles during the main pour.
Can you apply multiple coats of epoxy?
Yes. For best results, apply multiple thin coats rather than one thick pour. If you recoat while the first layer is still slightly tacky, the next coat can bond well. If the surface is fully cured, lightly scuff-sand to create adhesion, clean the dust completely, then recoat. Keeping each layer up to 5 cm helps maintain clarity and control.
What temperature should I work at?
For predictable curing and controlled exotherm, aim for 64–68°F
Why does wood keep bubbling for hours (or days)?
Wood and porous materials outgas during long cure windows. Apply a seal coat to porous wood/live edge before the main pour.
For river tables, staged pours also help: a thinner first pour to penetrate cracks, then the main fill.
Can I use external heaters or heat mats?
Not recommended for large pours. Deep Pour is formulated for controlled, low-exotherm curing. External heat reduces your safety margin and can increase overheating risk.
Is this epoxy safe to use indoors?
Yes — when used as directed. Deep Pour has minimal odor and is formulated to be non-toxic, VOC-free, and solvent-free. Even with low odor, we still recommend working in a well-ventilated space and using standard PPE (gloves and eye protection) during mixing and pouring.
Does “VOC-free” mean I don’t need ventilation or gloves?
No. “VOC-free” refers to the formulation being free of volatile organic compounds and solvents, but resin is still a reactive chemical system while liquid. Use nitrile gloves, protect your eyes, and maintain good ventilation until the epoxy is fully cured.
Is Craft Resin safe for food contact?
Absolutely! Once cured, Craft Resin is inert and safe for food contact. It's been rigorously tested against global standards and won't leach substances into food.
